The Panthers extended their winning streak to five games, their longest of the season. Florida trails Philadelphia by five points for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Brett McLean, Stephen Weiss and Kamil Kreps also scored for Florida and Tomas Vokoun made 27 saves.

The Islanders, who got goals from Bill Guerin and Blake Comeau, have lost four in a row and six out of seven.

Comeau scored on the power-play at 7:18 of the third to tie it at 2-2, but the Panthers went back in front 64 seconds later. Skrastins fired off a slap shot from the left point that sailed under the left arm of goaltender Rick DiPietro.

McLean scored into an empty net with 49 seconds to play.
