NHL suspends Buffalo's Peters for one game

Published: March. 12, 2008 at 12:41 PM

TORONTO, March 12 (UPI) -- Buffalo forward Andrew Peters has been suspended for one game by the National Hockey League for an altercation earlier in the week.

NHL officials issued the action after Peters, who was on the Sabres' bench at the time, punched Colton Orr of the New York Rangers, just before the teams' overtime period started Monday.

Both players were given 10-minute misconduct penalties by game officials.

Peters will miss Buffalo's game Wednesday against Pittsburgh. He also will lose one game's salary -- $2,807.49 -- which will be deposited in the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
