GLENDALE, Ariz., March 12 (UPI) -- Radim Vrbata's backhander past Jean-Sebastien Giguerre delivered Phoenix a 3-2 shootout win over Anaheim Tuesday.

Chris Pronger's slap shot rode high over the net on the Ducks' last shootout attempt, allowing the Coyotes to escape with the victory.

Shane Doan and Keith Yandle each had a goal for the Coyotes, who rallied from a 2-0 deficit midway through the second period. Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 35 shots.

Phoenix, which had lost three of four before the victory, has 75 points and trails Vancouver by five points for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference with 12 games left.

Todd Marchant and Ryan Getzlaf spotted Anaheim the early 2-0 lead. Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 37 shots in the loss for the Ducks, who have dropped three of four.

Anaheim holds the fifth spot in the Western Conference, trailing San Jose by four points for the Pacific Division lead.
