LOS ANGELES, March 11 (UPI) -- Ryan Kesler dethroned the LA Kings all by himself Monday, scoring Vancouver's first goal in regulation and the winner in overtime for a 2-1 Canucks victory.
Kesler's effort and 17 saves by Roberto Luongo combined to give Vancouver its third straight win, tying the Canucks with Colorado for the seventh spot in the Western Conference and just one point behind idle Minnesota for sixth.
Dan Cloutier made 38 saves for Los Angeles, which has dropped all but one of its last eight games.
Patrick O'Sullivan staked the Kings to a 1-0 lead that held up until Kesler swept a backhander into the net after the puck bounced off the skate of Kings defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky with 2:45 left in regulation. Kesler then won the game when he deflected a Willie Mitchell blast into the net 46 seconds into the extra session.
Alexandre Burrows picked up a pair of assists for Vancouver, which gained its first win over the Kings in four meetings this season.
