NHL: Tampa Bay 8, N.Y. Islanders 4

TAMPA, Fla., March 11 (UPI) -- Vincent Lecavalier had a hat trick Tuesday, powering the Tampa Bay Lightning's 8-4 victory over the New York Islanders.

Michel Ouellet had two goals and an assist, and Jeff Halpern a goal and two assists for the Lightning, who snapped a five-game losing streak but remain stuck in last place in the Eastern Conference. Karri Ramo made 20 stops in a winning effort.

Bill Guerin had a goal and an assist for New York, which has fallen back in the post-season race by losing five of their last six games.

Rick DiPietro allowed all eight goals on 44 shots.
