DALLAS, March 7 (UPI) -- Tracy McGrady scored 31 points Thursday in pacing the amazing Houston Rockets to their 17th consecutive win -- 113-98 over Dallas.

The last five victories in the franchise-record winning streak have come without Yao Ming, who will miss the rest of the season with a stress fracture in his left foot. Instead of collapsing, the Rockets have flourished, with McGrady leading the way.

Rafer Alston added a season-best 24 points in helping Houston turn a close game at halftime into a rout during the third period.

The Rockets shot 54 percent from the field, outscoring the Mavericks by 15 in the third quarter.

Dallas played without star forward Dirk Nowitzki, who was suspended for one game due to a flagrant foul he committed against Utah earlier in the week.

The Mavericks were led by Josh Howard with 21 points and Jason Terry with 17.

Houston's last eight victories have all come by at least 10 points. The setback ended a 12-game Dallas home winning streak.
