NBA: Detroit 101, New York 97

NEW YORK, March 7 (UPI) -- Tayshaun Prince led the way Friday with 28 points and seven rebounds in the Detroit Pistons' 101-97 win over the New York Knicks.

Detroit spurted away from a 53-53 halftime tie with a 23-17 third period for a 76-70 advantage, and never trailed the entire second half.

It was Prince's second-highest scoring output this season. He scored 34 in the season opener, a 91-80 win against Miami.

Rodney Stuckey had 13 points and four assists. Jason Maxiell and Chauncey Billups scored 12 points apiece.

Prince added seven rebounds and Billups had five rebounds and five assists for the Pistons, who need one more victory to clinch their seventh straight playoff berth.

New York was led by Eddy Curry's 23 points and four rebounds. Jamal Crawford had 17 points, six assists and three rebounds.

Fred Jones scored 16 points, Nate Robinson 14, while David Lee had 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Knicks, who suffered their fifth loss in a row.
