The other quarterfinals Friday see No. 3-seeded Serena Williams playing Anastassia Rodionova and fourth-seeded Patty Schnyder going against Akgul Amanmuradova.

If both Williams sisters win on Friday, they would square off in the Saturday's semifinals.
