Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

DALLAS, March 5 (UPI) -- The NBA announced Wednesday Dallas forward Dirk Nowitzki would serve a one-game suspension because of a flagrant foul he committed this week.
Nowitzki, the league's 2007 MVP, knocked Utah's Andrei Kirilenko to the floor with 7:04 remaining in the opening period Monday in what turned out to be a 116-110 victory for the Jazz.
Kirilenko, after remaining sprawled on the floor for more than a minute, made two free throws and then limped to the locker room. He was taken to a hospital for X-rays, which were negative.
Nowitzki will serve his suspension Thursday, when the Mavericks play at home against the Houston Rockets.
