COL BKB: Gonzaga 88, Santa Clara 54

SPOKANE, Wash., March 4 (UPI) -- Steven Gray scored 18 points Monday and No. 23 Gonzaga routed Santa Clara 88-54 to win its eighth straight West Coast Conference regular season title.

Matt Bouldin finished with 14 points and six assists and Micah Downs scored 10 for Gonzaga (24-6, 13-1 West Coast), which won the conference title outright for a sixth straight season -- and captured at least a share of the crown for the 10th time in 11 seasons.

Mitch Henke led Santa Clara (14-15, 6-8) with 13 points and John Bryant scored 10 for the Broncos, who closed out the season with five losses in their last seven games.

Gonzaga took control early, opening the game with a 12-0 run, and then going up 26-7 with just under seven minutes left in the first half.

The Broncos shot just 38.5 percent and turned the ball over 18 times.
