EXTON, Pa., March 3 (UPI) -- A rare Ted Williams baseball card is atop the list of sports memorabilia to be auctioned this week in Pennsylvania.
The 1951 Bowman Gum card belongs to a Connecticut collector and carries a minimum bid of $1,500, although its lack of wear and tear is likely to push the price higher.
"When you find them in pristine condition, it's so rare," David Hunt, president of Hunt Auctions, told the Boston Herald. "When collectors hone in on the one they want, price goes out the window."
Williams had an amazing career with Boston's beloved Red Sox that placed him among baseball's greatest hitters.
Also on the block will be World Series passes that belonged to famed New York broadcaster Mel Allen and a ball signed by Babe Ruth.
