NHL: Detroit 4, Buffalo 2

BUFFALO, N.Y., March 2 (UPI) -- Johan Franzen and Valtteri Filppula each had a goal and assist for the Detroit Red Wings, who ended a four-game skid Sunday with a 4-2 win over Buffalo.

Dominik Hasek blocked 22 shots for the Red Wings, who have 92 points -- five ahead of Dallas -- and the best record in the Western Conference, despite losing eight of their last 12 games.

Dallas Drake and Kirk Maltby scored Detroit's other goals and Niklas Kronvall contributed two assists.

Patrick Kaleta and Jason Pominville scored for the Sabres, who have lost four of five. Ryan Miller turned in 35 saves.
