Belgian Darcis takes Memphis tennis title

MEMPHIS, March 2 (UPI) -- Unseeded Belgian Steve Darcis won the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships in Memphis Sunday, defeating Swede Robin Soderling in straight sets.

Darcis needed just an hour and 15 minutes to top Soderling, the eighth seed, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).

The 23-year-old Belgian slammed 13 aces. He won $163,750, the top prize of his career.

Soderling had eliminated top-seeded American Andy Roddick in the quarterfinals.
