NHL: Montreal 2, New Jersey 1

MONTREAL, March 1 (UPI) -- Andrei Kostitsyn's 20th goal this season Saturday gave the Montreal Canadiens a 2-1 win over the New Jersey Devils.

The power-play goal came at 14:17 of the third and broke a 1-1 deadlock. Mark Streit's 12th goal also came on the power play at 6:11 of the second and gave Montreal a 1-0 advantage.

Netminder Carey Price stopped 31 of 32 shots for the Canadiens, who have won three in a row and lead the Eastern Conference standings with 81 points, one ahead of both New Jersey and Ottawa.

Brian Gionta's 18th at 13:37 of the second was New Jersey's lone goal.

Martin Brodeur stopped 23 of 25 shots for the Devils, who have lost three in a row, but sit atop the Atlantic Division and are second overall in the East with 80 points, one ahead of Pittsburgh.
