MEMPHIS, March 1 (UPI) -- Lindsay Davenport beat Olga Govortsova in straight sets Saturday in the final at the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships in Memphis.

The sound 6-2 6-1 victory gave the former world No. 1 her 55th career singles title, her second this season and fourth since giving birth to her only child last September.

She cruised in 60 minutes because of eight service aces and converting 89 percent of her first-service points.

The victory was worth a $28,000 winner's check for the 31-year-old Davenport, who was playing this event for the first time in her career.

Davenport, who also titled in Auckland, New Zealand, this season, had not played in a tournament on American soil since the Pilot Pen Tennis Classic in New Haven, Conn., in the summer of 2005.

Govortsova, 19, was the event's fifth seed and was playing in her first final. She had never faced Davenport.
