COL BKB: Bowling Green 89, Kent State 83

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio, March 1 (UPI) -- Brian Moten scored 24 points Saturday to pace the Bowling Green Falcons to an 89-83 win over the 24th- ranked Kent State Golden Flashes.

Joe Jakubowski added 21 points and 12 assists for the Falcons (13-14, 7-7 MAC). Chris Knight had 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots.

Bowling Green has beaten the two ranked opponents it has played at home in the past nine years. The Falcons beat then-No. 25 Miami-Ohio in 1999.

Mike Scott had 23 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots for Kent State (23-6, 11-3), which had a six-game winning streak end. Al Fisher scored 20 points and Chris Singletary 16 in the loss.

The contest was Kent State's first ever basketball game as a nationally ranked team.
