Kyle Busch wins NASCAR pole

LAS VEGAS, Feb. 29 (UPI) -- Kyle Busch turned in the fastest qualifying lap in Las Vegas Friday for Sunday's running of the UAW-Dodge 400, the third pole of his NASCAR career.

Busch made it around the 1.5-mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 29.613 seconds -- a speed of 182.352 mph. He last started in front at Phoenix in 2006.

Carl Edwards, who won last week's Auto Club 500 in Fontana, Calif., qualified second at 29.738 seconds.

Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon will make up the second row.

Two-time defending series champion Jimmie Johnson qualified 33rd.

Dodge and Chevrolet placed three cars each in the top 10 while Toyota and Ford had two cars each.
