PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., Feb. 29 (UPI) -- Brian Davis, seeking his first victory on the PGA Tour, took a one-shot lead Friday at the 36-hole mark of the Honda Classic at Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
The Englishman fired a 3-under 67 at the PGA National course for a two-day total of 8-under 132. His best finish on the tour to date has been a second at last year's St. Jude Championship.
"I've won a couple times in Europe and I've won qualifying school here," Davis said. "I know what it is going to take to win. We've got a long way to go yet and there's a lot of good players around the top of the leaderboard."
Matt Jones was alone in second at 133 and Dudley Hart moved into third place at 134 after shooting a 66.
Ben Crane and John Mallinger were tied for fourth at 135 and Ernie Els was among those at 136. First-round leader Luke Donald shot a 74 and slipped into a tie for 12th at 138.
