NEW DELHI, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Daniel Vancsik of Argentina and Shamim Khan of India shot 5-under-par 67s to share the first-round lead Thursday in the Johnnie Walker Classic at New Delhi.
Eleven players, including world No. 5 Adam Scott were tied for third, one shot back, in the European Tour event.
Vancsik, winner of the Madeira Islands Open last year, finished the front-nine with an eagle that got him to 2-under and then birdied the 12th and 15th holes. Khan birdied the final hole and finished with just 24 putts for his round.
"Because of the speed of the greens, I was a little wary of them, but the day turned out really well," Khan said.
Others tied with Scott at 68 were James Kamte, Unho Park, Jeeve Mikha Singh, Robert-Jan Derksen, Taichiro Kiyota, Mark Foster, Greg Chalmers, Rahil Gangjee, Paul Sheehan and Jason Knutzon.
PGA star Vijay Singh was among a large group of players at 2-under-par 70.
