MEMPHIS, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Andy Roddick avoided the upset bug in the second round of the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships in Memphis, eliminating Mardy Fish 6-4, 6-2.

Roddick, seeking his second straight title on the ATP circuit, will next meet eighth-seeded Robin Soderling.

Soderling was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Victor Hanescu and is riding a streak that saw him reach the championship match last week in Rotterdam.

Jonas Bjorkman, meanwhile, surprised fifth-seeded Sam Querrey 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4). Chris Guccione pulled off another upset by eliminating No. 6 Thomas Johansson 6-3, 6-4.

Guccione will take on Radek Stepanek, who lost in last week's San Jose finals to Roddick.

Donald Young also reached the quarterfinals with a 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 decision over Alejandro Falla and will play Bjorkman Friday.
