Ljubicic, Ancic win in native Croatia

ZAGREB, Croatia, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Former champion Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia and unseeded countryman Mario Ancic won their quarterfinal matches at the PBZ Zagreb Indoors tennis tournament.

Ljubicic, last year's runner-up to Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis, was a 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 winner against Russian Teimuraz Gabashvili.

Ancic beat Dutchman Robin Haase 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

Ukraine's Sergiy Stakhovsky knocked off eighth-seeded Serbian Janko Tipsarevic 3-6, 6-4, 6-2; and Italy's Simone Bolelli ousted Olivier Rochus of Belgium 7-6 (7-5) 6-4.

Friday's semifinals pit Ancic against Ljubicic and Stakhovsky against Bolelli.

The tournament's eventual champion collects a first-prize check of $59,100.
