Ljubicic leads Wednesday winners in Zagreb

ZAGREB, Croatia, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Native Croat Ivan Ljubicic was among Wednesday's winners in the men's PBZ Zagreb Indoors tennis tournament.

The top-seed, a former Zagreb champion, beat countryman Lovro Zovko 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) in a second round match.

In 2007, Ljubicic lost the final to Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis.

In one of the day's upsets, unseeded Robin Haase ousted No. 3 Frenchman Gilles Simon 6-2 6-4.

Italy's Simone Bolelli downed fifth-seeded Croat Marin Cilic 6-4, 6-3; and Croat Roko Karanusic was beaten by No. 8 Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4.

Other winners were crowd favorite Mario Ancic; Russian Teimuraz Gabashvili; Belgium's Olivier Rochus; and Ukraine's Sergiy Stakhovsky.

Thursday's quarterfinal are Ljubicic-Gabashvili; Tipsarevic-Stakhovsky; Haase-Ancic; and Bolelli-Rochus.

In Saturday's final, the 2008 Zagreb champion will claim $59,100.
