COL BKB: Georgetown 64, St. John's 52

WASHINGTON, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- One of five three-pointers by DaJuan Summers touched off a late nine-point run Wednesday that carried No. 10 Georgetown past St. John's 64-52.

Summers scored 21 points in what was Georgetown's third straight victory. The Hoyas (23-4, 13-3 Big East) moved atop the conference race by a half game in front of idle Louisville. The Cardinals can reclaim a share of the lead Thursday with a win over Notre Dame.

St. John's (10-17, 4-11) was led by Anthony Mason with 12. It was the Red Storm's fifth straight loss.

Georgetown's lead was only two points as the second half neared its midway point, but the Hoyas then embarked on its 9-0 surge. Summers began the rush with a three-point shot and finished it with a conventional three-point play.

St. John's made it to the free-throw line just five times, making four.
