"While it may not be easy to replace two legends such as Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, I know both Fred and Greg step into this role with a strong passion, commitment and desire to continue the outstanding legacy Jack, Gary and all the previous captains have created for The Presidents Cup," PGA Commissioner Tim Finchem said.

Couples is a four-time Presidents Cup participant and was 9-5-2 in the competition.

Norman is 7-6-1 over three Presidents Cups.

The next Presidents Cup is to be contested Oct. 5-11, 2009, at the Harding Park Golf Course in San Francisco.
