Report: Parker to enter WNBA draft

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., Feb. 21 (UPI) -- University of Tennessee women's basketball player Candace Parker announced she would skip her senior season to enter this year's WNBA draft, a report said.

The Chattanoogan reported that the 6-foot-4 inch junior from Naperville, Ill, will participate in senior night on Feb. 28, when the Lady Volunteers battle Florida in their final regular season home game.

Parker has one more season of eligibility after redshirting her freshman year because of a torn left knee ligament, and is scheduled to graduate on time in May.

When she returned to the court, Parker became only one of six women ever to dunk in a game.

She was named to four All-America teams last season, has been an NCAA Final Four MVP, and the John R. Wooden Player of the Year.

The potential No. 1 overall pick in the draft also wants to play for the United States at the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing in August.
