SOUTH BEND, Ind., Feb. 21 (UPI) -- A 23-point effort by Luke Harangody rallied No. 21 Notre Dame to an 82-70 win over Pittsburgh Thursday, the Fighting Irish's 35th consecutive home victory.
Pittsburgh had an 11-point lead early in the second half. The Panthers were still in front by five midway through the period when Notre Dame went on a 22-6 run to assume command.
Harangody also had 12 rebounds and was backed up by 16 points and 13 boards from Tory Jackson. The 35 straight home wins is a school record -- and Notre Dame also set a school mark by reaching the 20-win plateau for the seventh straight season.
The Fighting Irish improved to 20-5 and are 10-3 in the Big East, having won seven of their last eight. Pittsburgh had beaten Notre Dame in their five previous meetings.
Sam Young scored 20 points to lead Pittsburgh (19-7, 7-6).
