Urlacher expected to return to full health

CHICAGO, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Chicago Bears General Manager Jerry Angelo thinks star linebacker Brian Urlacher will make a full recovery from his recent neck surgery.

The Chicago Tribune reported last month that the operation on Urlacher's lower neck region focused on the cervical curve of the spine.

It was to correct a problem first detected during a postseason physical but the team had not confirmed the procedure before Angelo responded to emails on the team's Web site.

"We feel good about the prognosis and what the doctors have told us, that he's going to be 100 percent healthy," Angelo said Tuesday. "It's a concern anytime a player has surgery but we feel good that he's going to be back and going. Nobody's said anything to the contrary."

Last season, the eight-year veteran failed to make the Pro Bowl for the first time despite his team-high 158 tackles and being the NFL's first player ever with five sacks and five interceptions in the same season.
