Seattle obtains Swin Cash from Detroit

SEATTLE, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- In a key and widely overlooked WNBA trade, the Detroit Shock have dealt two-time WNBA All-Star forward Swin Cash to the Seattle Storm.

In the deal, the Shock received the No. 4 overall pick in the WNBA draft on April 9.

As a starter for Detroit in all of her six professional seasons, the former two-time national champion at Connecticut has averages of 12.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 183 games.

"I'm really happy to be in Seattle and I look forward to the upcoming season," Cash said on the Storm's Web site. "Playing with Sue (Bird) and Lauren (Jackson) is going to be exciting for me."

Bird and Jackson also have been all-stars and the players form on paper what could be the league's most productive trios next season.

Cash played on the 2004 gold-medal-winning U.S. Olympic women's basketball team and in 2003 she helped lead Detroit to its first WNBA title.
