Nalbandian survives three-setter

BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- No. 1 seed David Nalbandian survived a difficult test Wednesday to reach the quarterfinals of the Copa Telemex.

Nalbandian defeated Fabio Fognini 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-3 in this clay court event.

Juan Ignacio Chela also reached the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Thomaz Bellucci and will next meet Nicolas Almagro.

Almagro, who won last week's ATP stop in Brazil, advanced by downing Oscar Hernandez 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.

Also making it into the quarterfinals was Potito Starace, a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Juan Pablo Brzezicki.
