DETROIT, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- The Detroit Red Wings will be without defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom for at least three weeks because of a knee injury.
The 37-year-old Lidstrom was injured in Monday's 4-0 victory at Colorado.
On its injury report following practice on Wednesday, the team noted that an MRI showed he suffered a sprained right knee ligament during a collision with Colorado's Ian Laperriere.
Briefly after trying to skate, the wobbly Lidstrom was assisted by a referee before he went to the locker room and did not return.
"I was hoping for something shorter, but right now they are saying three weeks," he told reporters. "Hopefully (the MRI results) will come out good."
Lidstrom has compiled 57 points (7 goals, 50 assists) in 62 games this season.
Also, veteran goaltender Dominik Hasek was placed on the injured reserve list.
He has been sidelined with a groin injury/hip flexor inflammation and has not played since a 3-2 overtime loss to Toronto on Feb. 9.
