NHL: Ottawa 3, Philadelphia 2 (SO)

OTTAWA, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Jason Spezza scored in the third round of a shootout Tuesday, delivering Ottawa a 3-2 win over Philadelphia, which suffered its eighth consecutive loss.

The Flyers are now one loss shy of the longest losing streak in franchise history, which occurred in December 2006.

Spezza beat Martin Biron with a quick wrister and Senators goalie Ray Emery blocked a shot by Philadelphia's Daniel Briere to seal the win.

Chris Kelly and Antoine Vermette scored for Ottawa. Emery had 23 saves.

Kimmo Timonen and Scottie Upshall scored for Philadelphia, while Biron made 33 saves in defeat.

In just two weeks, the Flyers have dropped from the top of the Eastern Conference standings to the eighth and final playoff spot.
