Blake nears first triumph of the year

DELRAY BEACH, Fla., Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Top-seeded James Blake, seeking his first tournament triumph of the season, reached the semifinals of the Delray Beach International Friday.

Blake defeated Igor Kunitsyn 6-2, 6-4 to lead three Americans into the semifinals.

Blake is coming off a singles victory in Davis Cup action last week. He previously reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open before falling to Roger Federer.

In the semifinals, Blake will meet Robby Ginepri, a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 winner over Mardy Fish.

The other semifinal will send Sam Querrey against Japan's Kei Nishikori. Querrey was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Vincent Spadea and Nishikori eliminated Bobby Reynolds 6-2, 6-4.
