SANTA ANA, Calif., Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Former NFL quarterback Josh Booty was arrested in California on a suspicion of drunken driving charge, a report said Thursday.
Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino said the brother of USC quarterback John David Booty was tasered by county deputies after the Highway Patrol pulled him over for a traffic violation in Santa Ana Wednesday morning, The Orange County Register reported.
Amormino said Booty was tasered when he began fighting with deputies while being moved from one cell to another.
"He became belligerent and uncooperative," Amormino said.
Booty, 32, apologized to the deputies and was treated at a hospital. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 12.
Josh Booty was the 172nd pick in the 2001 NFL draft and spent three years as a backup quarterback with the Cleveland Browns.
In September 2007, he was cut by the Oakland Raiders and currently is an analyst for Fox Sports.
