SUNRISE, Fla., Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Alex Kovalev scored on a power play 1:43 into overtime Wednesday, giving Montreal a 2-1 decision over Florida.

A hooking penalty called 33 seconds into overtime on Jassen Cullimore led to the winning goal. Kovalev picked up the puck in the middle of the right circle and beat Tomas Vokoun with a slap shot.

Montreal got a goal from Christopher Higgins. Saku Koivu assisted on both scores. The Canadiens had lost their previous three games.

Carey Price picked up the victory by making 35 saves.

Florida's goal came from Steve Montador. Vokoun made 35 saves and stopped four shots in overtime before the game-winner got past him.
