NHL: Atlanta 3, Washington 2 (SO)

ATLANTA, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Slava Kozlov scored in the second round of a shootout Wednesday, allowing the Atlanta Thrashers to slip past the Washington Capitals 3-2.

Kozlov's goal followed one by Eric Perrin, giving Atlanta a 2-0 advantage in the shootout.

In regulation, Perrin scored his 10th goal in the second period when Marian Hossa scored his 25th. Hossa also had one assist and Keri Lehtonen stopped 39 of 41 shots for the Thrashers, who pulled into a tie for first with Washington and Carolina atop the Southeast Division.

Atlanta rose to 7-4 in shootouts.

Washington got one goal each from Victor Kozlov and Alexander Ovechkin, whose league-leading 48th came with just 1:21 left in the third to tie it at 2-2.

Olaf Kolzig stopped 26 of 28 shots in regulation but was beaten on Perrin's game-winner for the Capitals, who have lost two of three.
