NEW YORK, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- CBS Sports will operate College Sports Television and rename it CBS College Sports Network as part of a reorganization of CBS Sports, the U.S. broadcaster said.
The move, effective March 1, is designed to combine CBS' cable, broadcast and online activities, CBS News and Sports President Sean McManus said in a statement Tuesday.
"We believe this rebranding will better position our college sports cable network in the competitive world of cable television distribution," said McManus. "It's hard to imagine a cable company going forward that will not welcome the CBS Sports branded channel to its cable systems. In this move, we further build on the value of this important new part of our company."
"College Sports Tonight" will air twice a day and will anchor CSTV's revised lineup.
"The ability to bring unity to the CBS Sports brand across all media is something we know audiences and advertisers will continue to embrace," said CBS Sports Executive Vice President and Executive Producer Tony Petitti.
