Browns QB Quinn linked to anti-gay brawl

Feb. 13, 2008 at 12:38 PM   |   Comments

CLEVELAND, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn was among members of a group allegedly harassing gay men outside an Ohio bar early New Years Day, police said.

An emergency call to police placed by Seth Harris at 2:35 a.m. Jan. 1 said "Brady Quinn from the Browns" was "trying to cause a fight," The Plain Dealer, a Cleveland newspaper, said Wednesday.

"I just walked outside and he exchanged many profanities with me and called me a faggot, of course," Harris said.

Columbus police officers responded shortly after the emergency call to find Quinn and others in an argument with an apparent companion of Harris, Jason Thompson.

Police arrested Thompson for disorderly conduct for the confrontation. His friend, Brain Dunfree, suffered minor injuries during the encounter that police officials described as an "anti-male homosexual" crime.

Most accounts of the event say that, although Quinn didn't act to calm the situation, he had little to do with the confrontation.

"In all fairness to what the truth is, I don't know if Brady Quinn himself had anything to do with" the injuries, Thompson's attorney told the Plain Dealer.

No comment was available by the Cleveland Browns or Quinn's agent.
