Former NBA player Orlando Woolridge arrested for theft
EDMONTON, Alberta, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- The Edmonton Oilers said Tuesday defenseman Sheldon Souray will miss the remainder of the season after having shoulder surgery.
Souray was placed on injured reserve Jan. 30 and had arthroscopic surgery on his ailing left shoulder last Friday.
"It's been a challenging season, definitely, in a lot of ways," said Souray. "I have to live with this injury every day, so I knew what I was feeling and what I was going through. It's not an ideal situation for anyone."
Souray has not played since Jan. 24, when he aggravated an existing shoulder problem in Edmonton's overtime victory against Florida.
The original injury was a separated left shoulder caused by a fight with Vancouver's Byron Ritchie Oct. 13.That cost Souray nearly two months of the season.
Souray, 31, had an outstanding season last year for the Montreal Canadiens when he scored 26 goals and had 38 assists.
