NHL: Carolina 3, Boston 2

BOSTON, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Andrew Ladd scored two goals Tuesday, pacing the Carolina Hurricanes to a 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins.

Sergei Samsonov had a goal and an assist for the Hurricanes, who have won two of their last three games. Carolina has won all three of its games with Boston this season.

Rod Brind'Amour had two assists for Carolina. Hurricanes' goalie Cam Ward, who had a shutout until 5:10 left in the third period, stopped 32 shots to record his 23rd win of the year.

Shawn Thornton had the first two-goal game of his career for the Bruins, who have lost four of their last five games. Alex Auld made 20 stops in defeat.
