NHL: New Jersey 6, Carolina 1

NEWARK, N.J., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Paul Martin scored twice Saturday to help the New Jersey Devils blast the Carolina Hurricanes 6-1.

Martin's fourth goal of the season came in the first period when the Devils scored four times. He scored his fifth at 1:29 of the second for his first career two-goal game.

Jay Pandolfo had a goal and an assist. Colin White, David Oduya and Dainius Zubrus all scored once.

Dave Clarkson, Jamie Langenbrunner and Patrick Elias each added two assists, while Martin Brodeur stopped 22 of 23 shots for the Devils, who snapped a two-game skid.

Keith Aucoin scored Carolina's only goal at 10:35 of the second.

Cam Ward stopped 14 of 20 shots before he was pulled in favor of John Grahame, who stopped all six shots faced for the Hurricanes, who have dropped three of their last four games. In that span, they have scored a total of four goals.
