NHL: Colorado 6, Vancouver 2

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Milan Hejduk and Marek Svatos scored twice each Saturday night to lead the Colorado Avalanche past Vancouver 6-2.

Tyler Arnason and Brett Clark also scored, Wojtek Wolski had three assists and Jose Theodore stopped 23 shots for the Avalanche, who won their fourth out of five games and took over second place in the Northwest Division, one point behind first-place Minnesota.

Henrik Sedin and Sami Salo scored and Roberto Luongo let in five goals on 22 shots for the Canucks, who lost for the fifth time in their last six games. Curtis Sanford let in one goal on two shots in relief of Luongo.

Arnason opened the scoring at 9:10 of the first, and Hejduk made it 2-0 with his 19th goal of the season two minutes later. Svatos scored what turned out to be the winning goal with 2:55 left in the first period.
