CINCINNATI, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- B.J. Raymond sank a go-ahead three-pointer with less than a minute remaining Sunday to help 14th-ranked Xavier beat Saint Joseph's 76-72.
The victory came after it appeared the Hawks might spring an upset. Garrett Williamson's driving layup with 2:15 remaining had given them a 72-68 lead but Raymond's trey helped Xavier close the well-balanced contest with an 8-0 run.
Stanley Burrell had 16 points and three assists in the winning effort. Josh Duncan added 13 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Drew Lavender had 12 points and four assists, and Raymond added four rebounds and four assists for the Musketeers (20-4, 8-1 Atlantic 10), who have won six in a row.
Rob Ferguson led Saint Joseph's with 18 points and four assists. Pat Calathes had 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists, and Tasheed Carter had 10 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Hawks (15-7, 6-3), who have lost two straight.
They played without leading scorer Ahmad Nivins (right ankle sprain).
