SOUTH BEND, Ind., Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Luke Harangody scored 18 points Saturday when No. 21 Notre Dame eased past 16th-ranked Marquette 86-83 for its 34th straight home court victory.

In a see-saw early first half, the winners trailed 6-2 but a 9-0 run led to a 46-36 lead at the break.

Marquette came within 84-83 on back-to-back layups by Dominic James in the final minute before Harangody, the Big East's top scorer, made two free throws to settle matters.

He also had 11 rebounds and three assists.

Tory Jackson added 14 points, six rebounds and eight assists for the Fighting Irish. Kyle McAlarney scored 12, and Luke Zeller 11 for Notre Dame (18-4, 8-2), which won its fifth win in a row.

The victory avenged a 92-66 Marquette rout at Milwaukee Jan. 12

Marquette (16-6, 5-5) was led by James' 23 points and six assists.

Lazar Heyward added 21 points and 11 rebounds. David Cubillan scored 11, while Jerel McNeal added 10 points, five rebounds and five assists.
