PHOENIX, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Shaquille O'Neal was formally introduced Thursday by the Phoenix Suns, one day after the NBA team acquired the 14-time All-Star from the Miami Heat.

"I'm very excited to be here. I just want to fit in with a damn good team," O'Neal said at a news conference in Phoenix. "I'm just here to make everyone else better. I wanted it to happen because I was coming to a fabulous team. Helping them get to the next level will be exciting."

The Suns traded Shaun Marion and Marcus Banks to the Heat to obtain O'Neal, who turns 36 next month.

O'Neal has averaged 25.6 points a game over his 16-season NBA career but has managed a career-low 14.2 points in 32 games this season.

Phoenix leads the NBA Western Conference with a 34-15 record after two consecutive seasons of losing Western Conference finals series. O'Neal, with four NBA championships behind him, was traded to help get the Suns over that hump.
