PITTSBURGH, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Ronald Ramon hit a three-point shot from the corner as the buzzer sounded Thursday, giving No. 25 Pittsburgh a 55-54 win over West Virginia.
The Panthers rallied from a seven-point deficit in the second half and took advantage of a missed free throw by Alex Ruoff with nine seconds remaining to steal the victory.
With time running out, Keith Benjamin drove to the basket and fed it to Ramon, who was wide open for the long-range shot.
Ramon scored eight points and both Benjamin and Sam Young had 10 for the Panthers (18-5, 6-4 Big East).
West Virginia (16-7, 5-5) has lost three of its last four. The Mountaineers were led by Darris Nichols with 16 points and Joe Mazzulla with 15.
