Rain washes out Thailand tennis event

PATTAYA, Thailand, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Rain forced the postponement of all matches, including one involving fifth-seeded Angelique Kerber, Monday at the $170,000 Pattaya Women's Open in Thailand.

Kerber, sixth-seeded Russian Yaroslava Shvedova and seventh- seeded American Jill Craybas had all been scheduled to open their tournament play Monday before rains wiped out the day's slate set for the outdoor hard courts.

Those matches were made part of an eight-match card for Tuesday, tournament organizers said.

Agnieszka Radwanska is the tournament No. 1 seed.

Last year Sybille Bammer defeated Gisela Dulko in the Pattaya Women's Open title match but neither returned for the 2008 tournament.
