WASHINGTON, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- New York Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte appeared in Washington Monday to meet with congressional investigators looking into the use of steroids in baseball.

Pettitte was among the players named in a recent blockbuster investigation into performance-enhancing compounds compiled by Major League Baseball and has conceded he used human growth hormone to speed his recovery from an injury in 2002.

The New York Daily News said Pettitte and his two lawyers had nothing to say as he arrived on Capitol Hill for what is described as a transcribed interview with investigators from the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Pettitte's appearance comes after former teammate Chuck Knoblauch met with the same investigators Friday.
