UNIONDALE, N.Y., Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Rob Blake's power-play goal 7:22 into the third period Thursday gave Los Angeles the lead and the Kings went on to down the New York Islanders 3-1.

Jason LaBarbera made 28 saves and Alex Frolov clinched the victory with an empty-net goal with 41 seconds to play.

The Kings are in the midst of a season-long eight-game road trip.

The only New York goal came from Bryan Berard. The Islanders have lost three in a row and have won just two of their last eight.

Los Angeles owned a man advantage on Blake's goal, thanks to a bench penalty called on the Islanders for having too many men on the ice.

Blake deflected home a wrist shot taken by Dustin Brown from just inside the left circle.
