AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Tayshaun Prince hit a three-pointer with 4.4 seconds to play Thursday, lifting Detroit to a 90-89 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Prince scored 22 points and helped give the Pistons their ninth straight home win over the Lakers. That includes three victories during the 2004 NBA Finals.

Chauncey Billups scored 16 points in Detroit's fourth consecutive triumph.

The Pistons overcame a 39-point effort from Kobe Bryant, who could not keep the Lakers from losing for the fourth time in five games. Bryant turned the ball over 11 times, the largest single-game total of his career.

The game was the opener of the Lakers' season-long nine-game road trip.

The Lakers' Ronny Turiaf missed the second of two free throws with 17 seconds left and Rasheed Wallace claimed the rebound for Detroit. Wallace then failed to connect on a three-point attempt, but Prince grabbed the offensive rebound and delivered his game-winning shot.

A desperation attempt by Lamar Odom misfired just before the buzzer.
