COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Josh Carter helped No. 23 Texas A&M get off to a hot start Wednesday and the Aggies went on to crush 10th-ranked Texas 80-63.
Carter scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Joseph Jones and Dominique Kirk both scored 14 for the Aggies (17-4, 3-3 Big 12).
Kirk made a three-pointer just 15 seconds into the game and the Aggies embarked on a 19-3 run in the opening 5:45. The outburst was finished off by a three-pointer from Carter.
Texas fought back to within nine, but Texas A&M eventually took an 18-point halftime advantage.
D.J. Augustin and Dexter Pittman scored 14 points each for Texas (16-4, 3-2). The Longhorns had won their previous three games.
